2023 GAP FINANCING PROGRAM UPDATE

Thank you for your continued participation in the Brownfield Gap Financing Grant program.

Due to existing projects coming in under budget, we have money available in the Gap Financing grant program for new projects. This money will be available to qualified projects on a first come, first served basis.

Brownfields Gap Financing

The Brownfield Gap Financing Program (BGFP) provides grants to nonprofit developers for environmental assessment of property in Hennepin County through funding from the County’s Environmental Response Fund (ERF).
Typical BGFP grants are <$15,000 and are the seed money for future redevelopment projects.

In 2020-22, the BGFP granted a total of $637,606 to 50 projects, 12 of which were awarded in 2022.

Affordable housing: 3 projects
Homelessness Services: 2 projects
Youth and family services: 3 projects
Mixed Use Housing/Social Services/Commercial: 3 projects
Arts & Culture: 1 project
