Minnesota Brownfields is fortunate to host a group of outstanding interns this school year. Following are their bios and areas of focus:
Hilary Holmes
Hilary is completing a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Concentrating in Land Use and Urban Design, Hilary also works as an historic preservation intern for the City of Saint Paul Department of Planning and Economic Development. Hilary has served on committees for the University District Alliance and currently serves as the Student Director for APA-MN. As a research intern for Minnesota Brownfields, Hilary has focused on the connection between Transit Oriented Development and brownfield redevelopment, GIS analysis of brownfields along transit corridors and storm water management best practices on redeveloped brownfield sites.
Colleen Kutter
Col
leen graduated from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs in December, 2011 with dual Master degrees in Urban & Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture. A Chicago native, Colleen has assisted Minnesota Brownfields by analyzing brownfields-related legislative issues affecting brownfields, stormwater management and other communications activities.
John Meyer
John is a student in the Masters of Public Policy program at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, focusing on economic and community development. His undergraduate degree is in Applied Economics. John's interest is in public-private partnerships for development. Born and raised up north near the Twin Ports, he hopes to find a development job upon graduation this summer. John assists Minnesota Brownfields in producing this newsletter, planning the fall Redevelopment Awards event, and outreach activities. John Romens
John is at the Carlson School of Management, and is pursuing a B.S. in marketing, partnered with a minor in horticulture and entrepreneurial management. John's goal is to work in sustainable agriculture and food production, and possibly start his own urban farm. John is assisting Minnesota Brownfields with a variety of activities related to organizational management, including the organization's Annual Report, as well as research related to urban agriculture.
